The days of Voice Communication are coming to an end. In fact it has been happening in the background all along. It is Digital Replacing Analog Everywhere. Voice is now data. In the future Voice Communication is just an App you need to buy as an option.

Whatever the struggle between technologies, The future communications will be just Broadband Wireless Devices with Voice, Data and Web all in one. The intermediate technologies we see today, the Transitional Technologies are part of a Large Learning Curve. The future may be more of Optics, WiMax and more like Any Device can do Anything. Not Convergence but more an Intermeshed Collage.

Ethernet Networking itself is complex, A self healing, hack proof and plug-play Wireless Router has to be the first step to make safe robots.

Just imagine a Wireless Router or even a Internet Router as easy to tune as a FM radio, no entering numbers, no admin with browser. Just keep it in a room and all gadgets and computers form a fuzzy network, all by themselves. The very idea of technology is to make things simple, cost-effective and efficient.

The real need of robots now is to avoid Humans in Hazardous Environment. Right from Outer Space to working in a Plant with Toxic Chemical Gases, Even machinery and equipment that injures the limbs or damages the eyes.

Nomadic Computing on Portable Supercomputers

Some Apps and Applets or Widgets take more CPU and Memory Resources, The 2 core 2 GHz computers are also affected. We cannot assume all have state of the art machines and browsers. The Latest Desktop Programs also just Choke the Machines.

The CPU is being made faster and multicore and the OS Makers again overload the Architecture by luxurious resource hungry Systems. This has been happening since 286, but most pronounced now. The OS can be developed without making it Beefy and Heavy. The CPU cant keep getting faster. It needs to be Energy Efficient and the OS Slim and Sensible.

The only solution is to move to Handhelds and Webapps to end this Runaway OS Design Process.
